1. Scope

This policy covers information collected through www.discoveryschool.info, our online forms, and our parent portal (the "Services"). Enrollment records kept at the facility are additionally governed by our Parent Handbook and Texas child-care recordkeeping rules. By using the Services you consent to the practices described here.

2. What We Collect

You provide: contact details (name, phone, email, address), child information you choose to share (name, age, documents, photos), form and enrollment-packet entries, messages you send through the portal, employment applications, and payment-related details processed by our payment provider (we do not store full card numbers).

Collected automatically: IP address, browser and device information, pages visited, and similar technical data; see our Cookie Policy.

3. How We Use Information

We use information to respond to inquiries and tour requests; manage enrollment, billing, and day-to-day communication; operate the parent portal; send service and (with opt-out available) informational communications by email, phone, or text; improve the Services; protect the safety and security of children, families, staff, and our systems; and comply with licensing and legal obligations. We may use de-identified or aggregated data for any lawful purpose.

4. How We Share Information

We share information only with: service providers who operate parts of the Services for us (hosting, email delivery, payment processing) under confidentiality obligations; state licensing and regulatory authorities where required; law enforcement or others when required by law or to protect safety and legal rights; and successors in a business transfer. We do not sell or rent personal information, and we never sell information about children.

5. Children's Information and Photos

Our website is directed at parents and guardians, not children, and we do not knowingly collect information online from children under 13 (COPPA). Information about enrolled children is provided by parents or collected in the course of care with parental consent. Photos and videos of children are governed by our Photo & Media Policy and protected by the technical measures in Section 7.

6. Your Choices

You may request access to, correction of, or deletion of your personal information (subject to records we must keep by law) by contacting us. You can opt out of informational emails at any time. Photo consent can be revoked prospectively as described in the Photo & Media Policy. We will verify identity before acting on requests and respond within a reasonable time, generally 30 days.

7. How We Protect Information

• Encryption in transit: the Services are served over HTTPS (TLS).
• Encryption at rest: files uploaded to the portal — children's photos, documents, and message attachments — are stored encrypted; encryption keys are managed separately from the files.
• Access controls: portal files are available only through authenticated, per-family authorization checks; staff access is role-based.
• Photo safeguards: location and device metadata (EXIF) is stripped from uploaded photos; website photos of children are excluded from image-search indexing; published photos never include a child's full name.
• Operational safeguards: account passwords are stored hashed, sessions are protected against cross-site request forgery, and login attempts are throttled.

No system is completely secure; we cannot guarantee absolute security, and you use the Services at your own risk to the extent permitted by law. We will notify affected users of a data breach as required by law.

8. Retention

We keep personal information for as long as needed for the purposes above, to meet licensing and legal requirements (child-care records are retained for the periods Texas law requires), and to resolve disputes and enforce agreements — then delete or de-identify it.

9. Texas and Other US Privacy Rights

Depending on your state of residence you may have additional rights (for example under the Texas Data Privacy and Security Act or the California Consumer Privacy Act), including rights to know, correct, delete, and opt out of sale or targeted advertising. We do not sell personal information or use it for targeted advertising. To exercise rights, contact us using the details below; authorized agents must provide signed authorization.

10. Changes

We may update this policy at any time by posting the revised version with a new Effective Date; material changes will be highlighted on the Services. Continued use after posting constitutes acceptance.
